"These people just put my dignity in a little bag."
I notice you use the Cannon EOS Digital Rebel... I've heard good things about it. How is it working out for you? I've recently found myself with a Fujifilm Finepix s7000, and I'm forcing myself to set every detail of the photo myself. Focus, Aperture, Exposure time, White Balance, everything. I'm curious, how was this shot taken?

But seriously it's a great tool to have.
As for this picture, i used shutter speed priority mode. The camera would adjust the aperature to expose the image at my desired shutter speed, in this case 1/250th of a second. I used my 70-300mm lens at 214.0 mm That's how I got a shallow depth of field. I used Auto Focus. As far as technique used in taking the picture I got very lucky and found this set-up just like you see up top. The wind would blow it in different directions and I snapped away trying to catch the best one. The focus would also be off sometimes as the wind would pick up. That's my photo style to just snap away and experiment, hopefully a good photo will come out. The original was a little flatter so i used the "auto-levels" tool in Photoshop and Voila! Hope I satisfied your curiosity, feel free to send me a note or email if you have any other questions r you just want to chit chat.

P.S. taking pictures in the late afternoon gives some great lighting. This one was taken at 3:50 pm right before it started to set.
